Finally, something clean and new:
These are all the body panels to be replaced and most of the exhaust system.
All the parts sorted and stored. Practically every component of the steering, suspension and brakes is being replaced.
Some of new fuel and fluid lines:…
Cut quarter panel.
Cut a large section out of the rear quarter to examine how it’s all put together – whilst waiting for the new panels to arrive.…
Cleaned transmission.
Before (large chunks of dirt and grease have been scraped off):
Applying Gunk degreaser:
After first application of Gunk and pressure washing:
And, after second application of Gunk (from here it’ll be hand sanded and polished cleaned some more and painted black.):…
Doors back on.
Doors temporarily rehung. This is to aid in replacing the rear quarters, they will somewhat hold the body in alignment. I removed all the glass and the associated mechanisms. Left the exterior handles on and locks in.
…
More paint stripping.
Used some more Nitro Mors on the trunk lid, boot lid and front cowl panel. They all still need to be sanded down.
I am considering either hiring a beefy shot-blast unit and compressor (the one I used earlier, coupled with my small compressor, to do the hood hinges is just not up to the task), or taking the panels somewhere professional, just to save on all the time and…
Initial paint removal.
Removed paint and sanded to bare metal, the roof, sail pillars and rear end.
Used Nitro Mors Paint and Varnish stripper, it makes light work of each of the layers of paint but doesn’t touch the primer.
Used a random orbit sander to get rid of the primer coat.

The rear quarters are going to be replaced, so are left untouched for…
Headliner bows and insulation removed.
Pulled out the spring headliner bows, labeling each one as they have specific designations.
Using a paint scraper, scraped away at the headliner insulation. Very dusty work.
Bows and headliner insulation still in place:
The bare metal roof:…
Stripped dash out.
Everything but the ignition switch taken out. Need to work out how to remove the ignition switch.

Shocks and leaf springs.
Took out the rear shocks and leaf springs. Someone in the past did a rather shitty repair for one of the rear shocks where it had rotted and fallen through the trunk pan mounts, they made a bodge plate and bolted it to the rear frame. To get the leaf springs out was a little tricky; a couple of the front bracket mount bolts just turned as they had separated…
Took out rear axle.
Took out the rear axle assembly. This was just a case of un-attaching the shocks then unclamping the leaf springs, the traction bar was already unbolted from the body. The leaf springs are being a little stubborn, so I separated them under the car and am going to take them out later.
